Terms of service
Last updated 31 October 2026
The short version
- In the Presser is a game set in a fictional country. Its President, reporters and papers are invented.
- The reporters, coverage and reactions are written by AI as you play, so they can be wrong, surprising or occasionally off-colour. Nothing in the game is advice.
- Be decent: don’t abuse the service, and don’t put real people’s personal information into your answers.
- The first scenario is free. A Press Pass unlocks the rest, and you can cancel it at any time.
About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Wol Akec, an individual based in the United Kingdom who runs In the Presser (“we”, “us”). By signing in or playing, you accept them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the game. Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal data.
Who can play
You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, you need permission from a parent or guardian, who should read these terms with you. You need a Google account to sign in, and you are responsible for activity on your account.
The game, and AI-written content
In the Presser is entertainment. Scenarios take place in a fictional country, and any resemblance to real people, parties, outlets or events is not intended to describe them.
Reporters’ questions, the coverage, public reactions and the President’s verdicts are generated by AI from your answers. They may contain mistakes, misread what you meant, or say things we would not choose to say. They are not statements of fact or opinion by us. Nothing in the game, including training mode, is professional, legal, political or media advice.
Acceptable use
When you use In the Presser, you agree not to:
- include other people’s personal information in your answers, or anything unlawful, threatening or hateful towards real people or groups;
- use the game to try to make the AI produce harmful content for use outside the game;
- use scripts, bots or other automation to play, or to extract content from the service;
- try to get around access controls, usage limits or payment, or interfere with the service’s security or performance;
- copy, resell or republish the game or its scenarios, except for sharing your own results and screenshots for personal, non-commercial purposes;
- share your account or invite links publicly.
We may limit how much you can play in a day to keep running costs fair, and we may suspend or close accounts that break these terms.
Free play, the Press Pass and payments
Part of the game is free. A Press Pass unlocks everything else, either by subscription or through an invite.
Subscriptions
- The subscription is $9.99 a month, charged through Stripe when you subscribe and then every month until you cancel. Your bank may add currency conversion fees.
- You can cancel at any time from your account. You keep access until the end of the month you have paid for, and you will not be charged again.
- If we change the price, we will tell you at least 30 days before it applies to your subscription, and you can cancel before then.
- Your right to cancel: UK consumers normally have 14 days to cancel a purchase of digital content. Because a Press Pass gives you access straight away, you agree when subscribing that the content is supplied immediately, and you understand that the 14-day cancellation right ends once you start using it. This does not affect your other rights, including if the service is faulty.
Invites
An invite link gives a Press Pass for the time stated, without payment. It can be used once per account, may be limited to a number of people, and expires if not used in time. Invite passes end automatically and do not turn into paid subscriptions.
Your answers
You keep any rights you have in what you say or type. You give us permission to use your answers to run the game (including sending them to the AI services described in the privacy policy) and, without linking them to your account, to test and improve it.
Our content
The game, its scenarios, characters, writing, design and software belong to us or our licensors. These terms give you a personal, non-transferable right to play it; they do not transfer any ownership.
Availability and changes
We are a small, independent project. We work to keep the game running, but it is provided as it is and as available, and we can’t promise it will always be available or error-free. We may change, add or remove features and scenarios. If we stop offering paid content you have paid for, we will refund the unused part of your subscription.
Our liability to you
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or anything else that cannot be limited by law, and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
Otherwise, we are not responsible for losses that were not foreseeable, for business losses (the game is for personal use), or for losses caused by events outside our reasonable control. Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or £50 if that is more.
Ending your use
You can stop playing at any time, and ask us to delete your account by emailing [email protected]. If you have a subscription, cancel it first. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms; if we end it without good reason, we will refund any unused part of your subscription.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when we add features or when the law changes. We will change the date at the top, and tell you in the game or by email about significant changes before they take effect. If you don’t accept the new terms, you can stop using the game and cancel any subscription.
The law that applies
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring a claim in the courts of England and Wales, or, if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, in the courts there.
